Ghost hard drive clone classic explanation

Ghost is the program to clone the hard disk. The program can be executed under DOS and Windows9.X. Therefore, to clone the hard disk, please enter the Ghost subdirectory and run the Ghost.exe program. Note that If you are running the program under DOS, it is best to start the DOS mouse driver before running the program. Because Ghost's screen is a fake window screen, it is convenient to use the mouse click to select - although you can use the keyboard to Work. In addition, it is best to clean up the hard disk before backing up or cloning the hard disk - delete unused files, empty recycle bin, defragmentation, etc.
1. Partition backup
Use Ghost to copy backup, there are two backup methods of the entire hard disk (Disk) and partition hard disk (Partition). Click on the “Local” item in the menu. There are three sub-menu in the menu that pops up on the right. “Disk” means the entire hard disk backup (that is, clone), “Partition” means single partition hard disk backup and hard disk check “Check”. . The function of the "Check" item is to check the hard disk or the backup file to see if the backup or restore fails due to the partition, the hard disk being destroyed, and the like. Partition backup, as an individual user, saves system data, especially when it comes to restoring and copying system partitions.
Select the “Local/Partition/To Image” menu to pop up the hard disk selection window and start the partition backup. Click the white hard disk information bar in the window, select the hard disk, enter the window, and select the partition to be made (click with the mouse).
Then select the backup directory path in the pop-up window and enter the backup file name, note that the name of the backup file has the GHO suffix name.
Next, the program will ask if you want to compress the backup data and give three choices. “No” means no compression, “Fast” means small scale compression and backup execution is faster, “High” means high ratio compression but backup execution is slower. Finally, select the "Yes" button to start the backup of the partitioned hard disk. Ghost backups are quite fast, and backups can be completed without waiting for a long time. The backed up files are stored in the set directory with the GHO suffix.
2. Partition backup restore
If the partition data backed up in the hard disk is damaged, the general disk data repair method can not be repaired, and the system can not be started after being destroyed, you can use the backup data for complete recovery. There is no need to reinstall the program or system. Of course, you can also restore your backup to another hard drive.
To restore the backup partition, select the menu "Local/Partition/From Image" in the interface, select the restored backup file in the pop-up window, select the restored hard disk and partition, click the "Yes" button.
When restoring and restoring, it should be noted that the backup and restore of the hard disk partition is to restore the original partition invariably, including the type of the partition and the spatial arrangement of the data.
3. The clone of the hard disk
The clone of the hard disk is to backup and restore the entire hard disk, select the menu "Local /Disk /To Disk", select the source hard disk (the first hard disk) in the pop-up window, and then Select the destination hard drive to which you want to copy (the second hard drive). Note that you can set the size of each partition of the destination hard disk. Ghost can automatically partition and format the destination hard disk according to the set partition value. Select "Yes" to start execution.
Ghost can copy the destination hard disk almost exactly the same as the source hard disk, and implement partitioning, formatting, copying system and file in one step. Just pay attention to the purpose of the hard disk can not be too small, you must be able to install the contents of the source hard disk.
Ghost also provides a hard disk backup function, which is to save the entire hard disk data into a file and save it on the hard disk (menu "Local/Disk/To Image"), then you can restore to other hard disk or original hard disk at any time. on. This is convenient for installing multiple system hard drives. The method of use is similar to partitioned backup. It should be noted that the backup file cannot be larger than 2GB.
