Win10 changes the same name file renaming rules skills

When Win10 copies a file or folder, if the disk already has a file with the same name, you will be prompted to rename it. Usually, the original name is added with “copy” and a number is automatically renamed. Of course, the name generated by this automatic renaming is regular, not random. Is there any way to modify the renaming rules of Win10 files with the same name?

For example, to remove the "copy" words, or to make the name of the copy file more personalized? The answer is of course affirmative. In Win10, you can customize the naming rules for copy files.

The reference method is as follows:

1. First press Win+R to open the run, enter regedit and press Enter to open the registry editor;

2. Navigate to the following location

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Explorer\\

If the NamingTemplates item is not found in the above location, create it as shown below:

3. Click New NamingTemplates, create a string value named CopyNameTemplate on the right side.

Then modify the NamingTemplates value according to your needs to get the rules you want.

The default naming convention for the system should be: %s - copy

where %s represents the original file name part. If you set the NamingTemplates value to %s, the system will automatically remove the copy. The suffix of the file name 'supplement' will only add a numeric number with a bracket after the file name.

You can modify the rules arbitrarily according to your own ideas, such as changing to “ITHome - %s”, the effect is as shown in the following figure:

NamingTemplates values may not even Contains %s, making the copy file name completely different from the original file name. In short, the system will name the copy file according to any rules you specify. For multiple copies, the number is always distinguished by a numeric number after the file name.

The above is to modify the entire content of the renaming rules of Win10 files of the same name, now you know that the same name file rename can not only add "copy" words, as long as you like, you You can change it to any text.
