Windows 7 core components made in China

As a new generation of operating systems that Microsoft has high hopes for, Windows7 also embodies the hard work of Chinese researchers in the development process. Yesterday, Zhang Hongjiang, chief technology officer of Microsoft China R&D Group and president of Microsoft Asia Engineering Institute, revealed that the two core components of Windows 7 were completely developed by the Chinese R&D team.

Microsoft China's team's contributions to Windows 7 include Windows performance enhancements, automated diagnostics and repair platforms, Windows 7's two core components MSXML and WDAC, global software compatibility testing, China market hardware testing and operations Chinese elements in the system, etc.

While, WDAC is one of the key technologies for Microsoft database access. When a user queries flight information, trades stocks, and views bank statements through an application or browser, WDAC is responsible for establishing an access interface with the corresponding database behind the scenes. While ensuring the connection of various databases on different platforms, the Chinese team also optimized the code quality, which greatly improved the data access performance and ensured that users can access various databases on the Windows 7 platform at a higher speed, more stable and safer.

As one of the core components of Windows, MSXML provides a solid XML service for many Microsoft products such as Office, Internet Explorer, Windows Live and SQL Server. Chinese engineers have optimized the code almost line by line, which not only guarantees the performance and reliability of the component, but also reduces its memory usage.

Zhang Hongjiang said that the MSXML team and the performance improvement team's development work involves the Windows 7 kernel technology, which is the core technology in operating system development.

In addition, the Microsoft China R&D team injected more Chinese elements into Windows 7.

According to the introduction, the Windows7 desktop background appeared in the Great Wall, Huangshan, and Lijiang. The power-on tone is synthesized using a variety of oriental instruments. The three minority languages of Dehong Yuwen, Xishuangbanna Xinyi and Ba Si Ba Wen will also appear in Windows 7.

Zhang Hongjiang revealed that in the research and development of Microsoft's next-generation operating system Windows8, Microsoft Asia Engineering Academy will definitely increase the input of manpower and further enhance the competitiveness of the Chinese team in these two aspects.

According to the introduction, although Windows 7 has not been officially released, the development team of Microsoft Windows 8 has been formed a few months ago.

According to the current plan, the Chinese team will also play an important role in MSXML and performance improvement for Windows 8.
