Microsoft confirmed Windows 7 error

Beijing time on October 25th news, according to foreign media reports, Microsoft confirmed that hundreds of customers have problems downloading and installing Windows7, and has investigated this issue, but has not found a solution method.

An engineer at Microsoft said that Microsoft and DigitalRiver have been aware of the problem with customers who have purchased Windows 7 from DigitalRiver and have problems installing it, and are investigating the cause of the error. The engineer, who claims to be Michael, said: "We will release the latest survey progress at any time."

DigitalRiver, an e-commerce outsourcer based in Minneapolis, USA, provides Windows 7 upgrade download services for students. The upgrade costs only $29.99. In early 2007, DigitalRiver provided electronic purchase and download services for Windows Vista and Office 2007.

A few hours after Windows 7 was released, customers began reporting that there was a problem with the installation and download. One customer reported: "I double-clicked on a file named Win7-P-Retail-en-us-x64.exe and an uninstall message appeared. After the status bar is completed, an error message appears."

At the beginning of this year, Microsoft used the .iso disk image file when demonstrating Windows 7, which can be easily written to the installation disk. However, DigitalRiver provides an .exe file called Win7-P-Retail-en-us-x64.exe and two files with a .box extension. When a client executes an .exe file, it encounters the problems mentioned by Microsoft engineers.

Microsoft recommends that customers use a temporary workaround, which is to log in to Microsoft's official website to download a file named Oscdimg and create a disk image file with the extension .iso, but the process is more complicated.

DigitalRiver has not yet commented on this.
