Data from authoritative research firm Net Applications shows that users' enthusiasm for Windows 8 is far less than when Windows 7 was released three years ago. In June, the share of computers using Windows 8 (including all preview versions) was only 0.18%, accounting for 0.2% of all Windows PCs.

In June 2009, when Windows 7 was officially released in April, its market share had reached 0.75%, and it accounted for 0.8% in Windows PC. In other words, in a roughly similar phase, Windows 7 market share is four times that of Windows 8.

Windows 7 Beta was released in January 2009, and the Windows 8 Consumer Preview (also known as Beta) was released at the end of February 2012. Aside from the year, Windows 8 Beta is 7 weeks later than Windows 7 Beta, and Windows 8 RC (also known as RP Release Preview) is 4 weeks later than Windows 7 RC. The official version of Windows 7 was released in October 2009, and the official version of Windows 8 is reported to be released in October this year.
