The wonderful use of the bridge function in Windows XP

The word bridge is familiar and unfamiliar to many people. Not to mention the use of the bridge, when does the bridge work? LANs are quite popular, and they often encounter the following situation: A new client is added to the LAN, but the hub port is full, and adding a hub to a computer is not economical. What should I do? Windows XP's "bridge" function comes in handy, but requires a precondition that there must be a Windows XP system client with a dual network card installed in the LAN.

The following describes the specific implementation method:

In order to easily distinguish the description object, the following client with dual network card is called "Customer A", the newly added client is called “Customer B”, the specific connection and setting method is as follows:

Assume that the network segment used by the LAN is 192.168.0.x.

First of all, ensure that Customer A” can access the resources and Internet on the LAN, and configure the dual network card, wherein the IP address of the network card connected to the hub is 192.168.0.1, and connect to the "Customer B"; The address is 192.168.0.2. Open "Network and Dial-up Connection" to rename the "local connection" that was originally connected to the local area network to "local connection-host", and rename the other "local connection" to "local connection" - The customer & rdquo;, then use the twisted pair (two-machine direct connection) to connect the "local connection - customer" network card and the "customer B" business card directly connected.

Next, set the network attribute on the "Customer B", specify an empty IP address and "computer name", such as IP address: 192.168.0.3, computer name: customer B, other settings such as "Subnet Mask", "Default Gateway", "DNS Server"; &"Customer A” machine settings are the same.

Now, if “Customer A” and “Customer B” can access each other's resources, it means that they have already succeeded in half. The next thing to do is to use Windows XP “bridge” and “will” ;local connection-host" and “local connection-customer"

On the "Customer A", enter the "Network and Dial-up Connections" window, select “Local Connections - Clients & "Local Area Connections - Hosts" Right click, right click menu The "bridge" command, the system begins to bridge the two connections, if the above settings are correct, the bridge will be successfully enabled. An icon for "network bridge" will now appear. Right click on the icon and select “Attributes” to set the IP attribute in the “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)” attribute. For example: 192.168.0.4. Well, now "customer B” machine can also access other computers on the LAN and the Internet, thus achieving the sharing of a Hub port shared Internet access in the LAN.

Although the bridge says that the concept is not too familiar, but the function or skill still has to be learned, we must master the implementation methods introduced to you today, so that the future network problems can be solved without the fake hands. To others.
