Disk Cleanup Visa Vista Hibernate Unavailable

After using the Disk Cleanup Tool, the Hybrid Sleep and Hibernate features in Windows Vista may become unavailable?

Problem Condition:

After using the Disk Cleanup Tool in Windows Vista, the following symptoms may occur:

Unable to see in “Power Options” Sleep & rdquo; option. When using the sleep function, the computer cannot restore its settings if a power outage occurs. Cause Analysis:

This issue can occur if the Disk Cleanup tool has disabled hibernation files. Hibernate files must be enabled to access the Hybrid Sleep and Hibernate features in Windows Vista.

In Windows Vista, if hibernation is disabled and the Hybrid Sleep feature is enabled, backups of open programs and files will not be saved to disk when using the sleep feature. In addition, if the computer loses power while Windows is in sleep mode, open programs and files will not be restored and all unsaved work will be lost.

Solution:

To resolve this issue in Windows Vista, run the powercfg -h on command at the command prompt to enable hibernation and mixed sleep. To run this command, follow these steps:

Click “Start”, click “All Programs, and then click “Accessories”.

Right-click “command prompt", click “run as administrator", type powercfg -h on, and then press ENTER.
