How to turn off Win7 System Management Share

By default, Windows creates some hidden shared folders that have a dollar "$" symbol at the end of the name. These hidden shares cannot be viewed when the user is on the network node of the File Explorer or using a command to view the network share. This situation exists in XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8/Windows 8.1, and Windows 10 to allow system administrators, programs, and related services to manage the network environment.

Windows defaults to the following hidden administrative share:

• root partition or volume

• system root

• FAX $Share

• IPC$Share

• PRINT$Share

These shared opens allow any administrative access to your computer or Active Directory (Active Directory The user in the domain (connected state) enters any partition without having to actively share the file because he has already obtained your account credentials. In Windows NT-based systems (XP, Vista, Win7, Win8/Win8.1, and Win10, etc.), all partitions are open to administrators through the "Manage Shares" feature. Therefore, this mechanism has security risks. You can completely disable the sharing function in the following three ways.

1. Close the Server Service

1 Enter in the Run, Task Manager or Cortana Search Bar (Win10) /Start Menu Search Bar (Win7) /Start Screen Search Bar (Win8.1) After services.msc, press "Enter" "Services

2Find Server, double click to open

3Select “Disable” in “Startup Type”, then in &ldquo "Service Status" "Click “Stop”After Determination

This method can close the administrative share mentioned at the beginning of the article, but for users who need to enable sharing and some file sharing such as printing and faxing This way, some of them are "overkill". The latter two methods are more suitable for this part of the user.

2, close in the registry & ldquo; management sharing & < rdquo;

Although it is operating in the registry, but this method is not a problem, but it is best to back up before the modification The registry, in case of modification errors, causes unnecessary trouble. You can use the cleanup master of the soft media cube to complete the operation, which is convenient and quick.

The specific method is as follows:

1 Enter regedit in the Run, Task Manager or Cortana search bar (Win10) /Start menu search bar (Win7) /Start screen search bar (Win8.1) After the carriage return, open the Registry Editor

2Locate to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesLanmanServerParameters

3Create a new DWORD (32-bit) value, rename it to AutoShareWks, and set its value data Set to “0 ” then click OK

3, use the soft media Rubik's setting master to close & ldquo; manage sharing & rdquo;

Rubik's cube operation is more concise, and will not affect Normal sharing function, convenient and efficient.

1Open the latest version of the soft media cube, find “Set the master”

2Select “Network Sharing Settings"

3 In the “Share Settings” checkbox, select the management share you want to cancel. Generally, the first three items should be checked. Remember to click “Save Settings” and then select “Clear Settings” in the “Share List”. IPC sharing, the project is more risky

So far, the three methods have been introduced, and the operation is not too difficult. It is applicable to the current mainstream Windows systems. The key is to turn off these “risk factors” after the first installation of the system, early prevention.
