Change Remote Desktop Port 3389 for Windows 7

  
        

Under Windows 7, the method of modifying the port 3389 of the remote desktop is actually no different from the previous one. As with the modification under Windows Vista, XP, and 2003, it can be modified through the registry. However, this is cumbersome for some users, after all, who can remember the location of the registry every time.

Therefore, the Windows 7 home has been specially organized here, introducing two methods, one is manual modification, and the other is modified by Microsoft's official Fixit tool.

First, manually modify:

1, Win key + R key to open the running window, enter Regedit and run, start the registry editor.


2, locate and click the following registry subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\System\\CurrentControlSet\\Control\\TerminalServer\\WinStations\\RDP Tcp\\PortNumber

3, in the Edit menu, click Modify and then click Decimal


4, type the new port number, and then click "OK"

5, exit the registry editor

6, restart the computer will take effect.

Second, through the Microsoft Fixit gadget to directly modify

Enter the port number you want to modify in this input window, and then follow the prompts to restart the computer, which is easy to implement.

Software Tip: Please note that when you try to connect to this computer by using a Remote Desktop connection, you must type in a new port. If you have a firewall turned on, you must set up a firewall to allow new port numbers and use a remote desktop connection to connect to this computer.

This article does not only apply to Windows 7, the two methods are equally applicable to Windows systems such as Vista, XP, 2003/2008.
