Into win7 User Account Control (UAC) World (2) UAC options

Windows7 UAC feature of this model

Vista makes many administrators and companies (non-administrator) at arm's length for Vista, Microsoft Corporation Forced to solve the UAC's "obsessive" pop-up window problem, and in Windows7 Microsoft came up with the so-called UAC slider mode.

The slider control operation control of the computer administrator to deploy UAC prompt and safe level, the slider which type of application can control pop-up window will appear, which programs may not be required prompt window. There are a total of four different slider settings.

The four levels are defined as follows:

1. transmitted to each system change. This is also the Vista mode, any system level changes (Windows settings, software installation, etc.) will appear UAC prompt window.

2. alert only when a program tries to change your computer. When the user changes the Windows settings (such as the control panel and administrator tasks), the prompt message will not appear.

3. alert only when a program tries to change the computer without using the secure desktop. This is somewhat similar to the second, but the UAC prompt window only appears on the normal desktop and does not appear on the secure desktop. This is useful for some video drivers because these programs make desktop conversions slow, so be aware that secure desktops are a hindrance to software that attempts to masquerade as a response.

4. Never suggest that it is equivalent to completely turn off UAC function.

a lot of people said that the slider is a very good choice, of course, the first is the most secure setting. But even the first has been attacked, the security of the Microsoft system is indeed questionable.

UAC windows7 can use the slider to select the level of prompt, and Vista systems only silent mode and non-prompt mode. The safest settings are usually the most annoying, but very secure. The non-prompt environment basically brings the security of the Windows 7 computer back to the XP system level.

security is never easy reach. If you run a mode other than the safest mode in Windows 7, then security will return to XP level. If you decide to disable the great UAC security features or choose a lower level slider, then you miss out on the best security mode that Windows provides for you. If security is not a big problem, why upgrade the system?
