Windows 7 creates virtual disk partitions

I believe that many of my friends have played Microsoft's virtual machine (VPC) before. In Windows 7, Microsoft used it as the system's built-in file, the virtual disk file. The virtual disk file uses the VHD (Microsoft Virtual Machine VPC file format) file. , which means it can read files created in Microsoft virtual machine VPC, very convenient, here we take a look at how to create a VHD virtual partition

1. create a VHD file

let First create a virtual disk. When creating, right-click "Computer", select "Manage" in the pop-up context menu, and click "Disk Management" in the "Computer Management" interface that opens, and then go to the disk management interface.

Tip: Enter diskmgmt.msc in the "Run" dialog, you can open the "Disk Management" dialog directly.

in the "Disk Management" window, click the menu "Operation" → "create VHD" command, open the "create and attach virtual disk Wizard" dialog box. Enter the location where the virtual disk file is saved here to save the file to a larger partition. Then enter the capacity of the virtual disk in "virtual disk size", where we can enter as needed. Next we see two single options below the dialog.

wherein "Fixedsize" term represents the virtual disk is provided with a fixed space, and "Dynamicallyexpanding" dynamically adjust the size of the data stored. After the setting is completed, click “OK” to automatically complete the creation of the virtual disk. After

2. Annex VHD file

virtual disk is created, we have the following in Disk Administrator its accessories. When it is attached, click the “Operation” → “Add VHD” command in the Disk Manager menu to open the “Add Virtual Hard Disk” dialog box, click the Browse button to select the VHD file you just created, and click OK to click the virtual The disk is added to the Disk Manager and is shown here as Disk 1.

this time the virtual disk can not be used, as the same physical hard disk before using them we need to partition, format and other settings operations. Right-click on the drive and select the "New Simple Volume" command to bring up the Disk Partition Wizard, where we can partition the virtual disk as needed. After the partition is complete, we see the new disk partition of the program in Disk Manager.

two partitions is VHD disk partition, partition later we can directly operate in the "My Computer". After the VHD virtual partition is created, copy the VHP virtual machine files to the partition and we can use it directly.

3.VHD close the file and delete

when using the virtual disk, we can temporarily shut down the virtual disk as needed. In operation, right-click the "virtual disk" icon in "Disk Manager" and select "Offline", so that the "virtual disk" we can not access the partition created by the virtual disk in the "Explorer". In the future, we just need to right-click on the "virtual disk" in the "Disk Manager" and select "Online", so that it can be accessed in the Explorer.

"Disk Manager" also provides a virtual disk "VHD file" functional separation, we can delete the virtual disk from the Disk Manager by separating the functions, so you can not use VHD files until You can reattach the VHD file later. When separating VHD files, select the virtual disk icon in Disk Manager, right click and select "Separate VHD" to pop up the separate virtual hard disk wizard. If you check "Delete virtual hard disk file after deleting disk", the entire virtual disk will be completely deleted. The data saved on this disk will also be lost.
