Win7 how to use disk management to create extended partitions

Manage new hard disks under Win7 system, enter the "Computer Management → Disk Management" window, although you can perform new hard disk Formatting and creating the operation of the primary partition, but unable to establish an extended partition. If you have a dual system installed, it's okay. If there is only one Win7 system, what should I do?

The solution is as follows: Click the "Start" menu, find the "Command Prompt" from the attachment, right-click and select "Run as administrator" to open the command prompt window, enter the "diskpart" command, enter DISKPART status, then follow the steps below:

1. Select physical disk

Enter "select disk N" to select the physical disk, where "N" represents the first physical hard disk. If you want to operate on the first physical hard disk, you should enter "select disk 0", and so on.

2. Create an extended partition

Enter the "create partition extended" command. After execution, the system will automatically create an extended partition, and all free space behind the primary partition will be occupied. When you are done, you can exit the command prompt and no longer have to enter the commands to create a logical partition, because the system uses all of the extended partitions to create a logical partition.

Ok, now go to the "Computer Management → Disk Management" window, you will find the extended partition that has been created. Right-click and select "New Simple Volume". At this point, the "New Simple Volume Wizard" will pop up (that is, create a logical partition). Follow the wizard's prompt to specify the size of the simple volume. The next operation is very easy.

This operation also applies to the Vista system.
