First, create a contact

"Contact" is a new feature of Windows7, which makes it easier and faster for office workers to contact other people via email. The specific steps for creating a Windows 7 contact are as follows:

1. Right-click on the Windows 7 desktop and select the New→Contact command from the shortcut menu to open the Properties dialog box.

2. In the “Name and Email” tab interface, fill in the content according to the text box field (for example, enter “[email protected]” in the “Email” text box), After the content is filled out, click the “Add” button to add the contact's email address to the list (the contents of other tabs can be filled in or not), then click the “OK” button to create a contact. .

Tip: It is recommended to copy the contact to a folder and rename the folder to "Contact" because the Windows 7 folder provides a new display mode (ie preview pane) mode). This way, when you click on a contact, some basic information about the contact (such as an email address) is displayed in the preview pane.

Second, installation settings Windows Live Mail

By default, Windows 7 does not have Windows Live Mail installed, you need to log in to the "http://download.live.com/wlmail" site pair It downloads and completes the installation. The setting method is as follows:

1. Start Windows Live Mail and click “Add Email Account” in the “Quick View” pane to open the “Add Email Account” wizard window.

2, enter your own email address in the "Email Address" text box, enter the password and enter your name in the "Display Name" text box, click the "Next" button to continue (such as Figure 1).

Tip: The email address is recommended to use the email address of Sina (or Tencent QQ), because some email service providers have blocked the POP3/SMTP service for free and new application emails.

3. In the next screen, we configure "Pending Mail Server" and "Pending Mail Server", enter "pop.sina.com" and "smtp.sina.com" respectively, and Check the "Pending server requires authentication" check box, click the "Next" button, and finally click the "Finish" button to complete the client mail settings.

Tip: After logging in to Sina's free Web mailbox, you can get the POP3/SMTP server address in the help, and also need to check "Open" under "Mailbox Settings → Account → POP /SMTP Settings" Checkbox to enable Sina's POP3 and SMTP to send and receive emails in client mail.

Third, set the program association

To use "contacts" to send e-mail, you must set Windows Live Mail as the default program associated with Windows 7. This way, Windows Live Mail is automatically launched when you click the email address of a contact in the preview pane of the Contacts folder. The method of setting the program association is as follows:

1. Click “Start→Control Panel→Programs→Set Default Program” (you can also directly execute the “Start→Default Program” command) to open the “Set Default Program”. Dialog box.

2. Click the "Windwos Live Mail" option in the "Programs" list box on the left, and then click "Set this program as default" (as shown in Figure 2), then click " Ok" button.

4. Send a message with "Contact"

In the "Contacts" folder, click on a contact (for example, "Autumn Wave"), press "Alt+" P" key combination, open the folder pane preview function of Windows 7. Click on the contact's email address in the preview pane (shown in Figure 3) to launch Windows Live Mail, which is associated with Windwos 7 by default. In the window that opens, the recipient and sender are automatically added. After the message is written, click the "Send" button to complete the mail delivery. In this way, emailing will be a very enjoyable job.
