Idle eSATA interface affects Windows 7 boot speed

Many medium and high-end motherboards have at least one eSATA interface, which is convenient for users to connect external hard drives and other devices, but I believe many people do not need it, so they are idle. Have you ever thought that it is this idle eSATA interface that may inadvertently slow down your Windows 7 system startup speed? According to Microsoft Knowledge Base article KB2292867, if an unused eSATA interface is installed on a computer with Windows 7 operating system, the system startup time will be greatly extended.

The reason for this problem is that the initialization timing of Microsoft AHCI (Advanced Host Controller Interface) is not completely consistent with the SATA specification, which should result in a longer time when detecting the eSTA interface.

Microsoft has released a hot fix for this purpose, but it is not publicly available. You can request it from the Microsoft Support Center if you need it:

Or download it on the dedicated Microsoft Hotfix Patch Sharing website:
