How to remove the Windows.old folder to reclaim disk space

During Windows 7 installation, if you do not format the partition, the files used in previous versions of Windows will be saved in the Windows.old folder. The file type in this folder depends on your computer.
After using Windows 7 for a while (such as a week or two), if you are sure that your files and settings have been restored to the appropriate location, you can use Disk Cleanup to remove the Windows.old folder to safely reclaim the disk. space.

1. Click the Start button, type Disk Cleanup in the search box, and then click Disk Cleanup. (If you are prompted to select the drive, select the drive where Windows is just installed, and then click "Next".)

2. Click on "Clean up system files." (If you are prompted to select the drive again, please just select the drive where Windows is installed, and then click "Next".

3. Select the "previous Windows installation" and any other categories of files you want to delete.
4. Click OK and then click Delete File.
