Win7 into standard 2GB memory can meet the needs of notebooks

With the continuous improvement of laptop configuration, some mainstream books can fully satisfy users' daily applications and even office, games, etc., and the price is very close to the people, and many users who have doubts about the performance of the notebook have changed their views. In addition to the price cuts, most notebooks now come standard with the genuine Windows 7 operating system, which is impossible in the assembly of computers. However, many users are also worried, 2GB of memory is enough to run Windows 7? Need to add another memory?

The Windows 7 operating system has been well received by users since its release to the present, especially the stability can exceed Windows XP. Although the function is increased, the system uses very little resources, which is much better than the previous Vista. Therefore, many notebook manufacturers have installed the genuine OEM Windows 7 operating system before the product leaves the factory. After the user purchases, they only need to activate according to the operation, which makes many users feel very convenient.

As mentioned in the introduction, many users now feel that their notebook's standard 2GB of memory is not enough, especially running Windows 7 is afraid of dragging the system. For this reason, many merchants also have some promotional activities, such as buying a laptop to upgrade the memory for free (the upgraded money has been added to the notebook, the old means), etc., in order to appease the concerns of these users, then whether to upgrade to 4GB of memory?

At present, the average memory price of a 2GB DDR3-1333 notebook is about 155 yuan. Compared with last year, it is really cheaper. Some users who have upgraded ideas are also itchy, so today I will combine genuine. The Windows 7 system tests the difference between different capacity memories for everyday applications.

Introduction to Test Notebook

Lenovo Z460 uses Intel's latest Core i3 350M processor and HM55 chip motherboard, loaded with NVIDIA GeForce G 310M discrete graphics, comes standard with 2GB DDRIII-1066 memory Western Digital 320GB 5400RPM SATA-II hard drive, DVD burner and Broadcom 802.11n wireless network card. In addition, the Windows 7 Home Basic Home Basic Edition operating system is pre-installed.

Herster detection hardware configuration

Our test method is to run all test items in a single 2GB memory configuration; The first 1GB of memory is composed of 3GB mode; finally, two 2GB of memory are installed to form a dual channel 4GB mode. Finally, compare the test data three times before and after, and draw conclusions.

Test items include:

Benchmark: PCMark Vantage
Game Test: 3Dmark Vantage
Office Test: PhotoShop Load Picture

PCMark vantage Memory Test

First of all, we tested the PCMark benchmark test, which comes with real test scripts for running CPU, GPU, HDD, etc. for image editing and video editing. Memory performance, the following are specific test results.

Synthetic test software PCMark vantage's memory test part is a test script written according to the real application, also has a certain reference meaning, we chose this software For memory testing.

test scores

As seen from the above test results, the notebook comes standard with a single 2GB capacity notebook memory total of 3047, and When upgrading to 3GB capacity, the overall performance improvement is not obvious, and its score is 3102 points. When the upgrade to 4GB, the score was 3198 points. Compared with a single 2GB memory, the score increased by 151 points, and the performance was not very prominent.

Summary: Through the PCMark Vantage memory subtest test, from a single 2GB to 4GB dual channel, there is not much meaning for the final score. Because the PCMark Vantage benchmark has been simulating some of our everyday applications, memory improvements are not reflected in this regard.
