Windows 8 system can read PDF and XPS files directly

  

Windows 8 Consumer Preview will include some apps, including Camera, Messaging, Mail, Calendar, SkyDrive, People, Photos, Video, Music, and more. A new screenshot today reveals more applications built into the Windows 8 Consumer Preview:

According to testers, users can read PDF and XPS directly through the Windows 8 Reader application. Files, no software such as Adobe Reader is required.

Many users read PDF files through Adobe's free software, Acrobat Reader. In most cases, they are in the form of a web plug-in. In the Metro version of IE10, Microsoft gave up support for plug-ins. Microsoft provides a built-in Reader application that allows users to read PDF files while giving up plug-ins.
