Windows 8 protection is secure. Safe boot has not been cracked

Windows 8 will use UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) Secure Boot to prevent unauthorized boot loader (OS Loader) from booting in the BIOS. UEFI only launches the certified boot loader. For example, Windows 8, and malware can no longer use this method to attack users.
Existing boot process: BIOS boot any boot loader, even malware
Windows 8 Secure Boot: UEFI only launches the bootloader through authentication
A major improvement in performance, however, there have been media reports recently that Windows 8 security boot has been cracked by hackers. According to reports, security researcher Peter Kleissner has developed a bootkit loader called “Stoned Lite” that can cross Windows 8 UEFI boot, direct access to the operating system kernel, and even full access to PC or even encrypted drives.

Peter will announce his development of the Bootkit at the MalCon conference in India on November 25. This may cause many people to worry about the security of the unreleased Windows 8, in fact, this concern is not necessary. First of all, Windows 8 has not been released yet, even if the above report is true, no one can guarantee that this program can really bypass Windows 8 security startup; moreover, the above report is not accurate.

A few days ago, Peter clarified the matter when he was interviewed by Softpedia. He said that although Microsoft's secure boot may have some vulnerabilities, it is a major improvement, and there is currently no way to crack it. Peter pointed out that the program he developed is only for the boot process of the old version of Windows, and does not apply to the Windows 8 safe boot function.
Win8, the program with the security key can be started, malware and the like can not be loaded at system startup

Peter said: "The problem with the old version is that no one will go to school Examine MBR, this is a loophole. Windows 8 has UEFI and Secure Boot, all boot programs and drivers must pass validation, otherwise they cannot be loaded. ” Peter believes that the current Windows 8 protection mechanism is very secure, of course, does not rule out the possibility of being cracked in the future.
