Using upgraded graphics driver to solve win 8 flower screen problem

Basically, most users' computers have a certain number of years, and some people will have problems with the screen. In fact, if such a problem does not necessarily mean the display is bad. This may be due to a problem with the graphics card driver.

The author's computer is relatively old, configured as AMD Athlon64 X2 5000+ processor, NVIDIA C68 motherboard and DDR2 667 2GB memory. Recently, I have upgraded and installed Windows 8 development preview version, but it also runs smoothly. . And after the system is installed, all the hardware drivers are automatically installed, which is very convenient.

However, the only downside is that when browsing the web, there will always be a splash screen (Figure 1). Although it can be solved by pressing the F5 key refresh, it is cumbersome to do this every time. The author began to think that it was a browser problem, so I changed the IE, Firefox, Migratory and GreenBrowser, and the problem was still the same, so I suspected the video card.

The author uses the GeForce 7050P graphics card integrated with the C68 motherboard, which is detected by "Driver Wizard 2011". In the "Basic Status" interface, the current graphics card The driver version is 8.17.12.7574 (Figure 2), and the 8.17.12.9745 certified version is available for upgrade. Switch to the "Drive Management" interface, you can see that the 8.17.12.7574 version of the driver does not get the digital signature of Windows (Figure 3), so there may be compatibility issues.

This shows that the GeForce graphics driver that comes with Windows 8 is 8.17.12.7574, released on July 20, 2011, but can still be upgraded to the earlier version of the 8.17.12.9745 certified version released on April 3, 2010. Then choose the 8.17.12.9745 version of the driver to upgrade, after the upgrade, the phenomenon of browsing the web screen is no longer, the problem has been completely solved.

Since the Windows 8 development preview is not the official version of the operating system, its own driver may not be digitally signed, it is not necessarily a stable version, it is inevitable that compatibility issues may arise, so I suggest you After installing the Windows 8 development preview, the driver will be upgraded to avoid problems.

If there is a problem with the flower screen with win 8, don't rush to install the system or replace the monitor. First upgrade the display driver to see if the problem with the screen is solved. If not, then from another angle. think abut.
