From September 12th, the Microsoft Windows App Store is officially open to developers! Now, both corporate, personal, and student developers can log in (https://appdev.microsoft.com/StorePortals/) to sign up for a Windows developer account and submit an app to the Windows Store. Once the app is approved, developers can successfully launch the app to the Windows Store and deliver great apps to users around the world.
Because Microsoft has provided a free student developer account to all college students through the DreamSpark program. The registration process for student developer accounts is slightly different from that of regular developers. In order to let the students understand the registration process as early as possible, we provide the following process documents for everyone.
Because of some details, such as the dual-currency credit card, application submission after registration, and some details need to be confirmed in detail, so it is only the first draft.
1. Pre-preparation
For the student group, as long as you pass the DreamSpark certification, you can get many free development tools and software from Microsoft, and you can get free Windows Phone and Windows8 student developer accounts. If you need to pass the DreamSpark certification, you need an edu mailbox, and visit www.dreamspark.com to complete the certification process according to the wizard.
Because some students may not have an edu email, please send an email to:
[email protected] with the title "Apply DreamSpark Verification Email". In addition, after the revision of the Dreamspark website, the previously logged in and verified account, if you can not log in, please re-certify.
After DreamSpark certification, you need to obtain the registration code required to register your Windows 8 developer account. You can exempt the developer fee of 300CNY by entering the registration code during the subsequent registration process. In the process of registration, please prepare a credit card for the payment link to verify. Students are assured that after using the DreamSpark verification code, the amount deducted from the credit card between $0.01 and $5 will be refunded to the corresponding card. If you don't have a credit card, you can use the credit card of your mom or dad or your trusted relatives to complete the process. Registering a student developer account is free.
The following steps to get the registration code:
Open www.dreamspark.com/select the “Students” menu and select the “Sign In” button below.
2. Enter your DreamSpark authentication email and password in the open page and click the "Login" button.
3. After successful login, select the “Students” menu, then select “app development” and select “Learn more” in Windows 8 in the lower left corner of the text.
4. Select "Get your Registration Code" at the bottom of the page that opens.
5. Open the following page and click "Get code Now".
6. You can get the registration code used to register the Windows 8 developer account, as shown below, please save the registration code first.
Second, Windows 8 developer account registration process
Enter https://appdev.microsoft.com/StorePortals/, open the login interface as shown below, if you have a Microsoft account, you can log in directly If not, please register a new Microsoft account.
2. After logging in, go to the “Developer Center” page below, and select whether to modify the corresponding information according to the wizard. Select "Use this Microsoft Developer Account" here and click Continue.
3. Open the “Account Information” page, fill in the corresponding information, and click “Next”.
4. Enter the "Agreement" page, please read the corresponding agreement carefully, confirm that there is no objection, please tick the "I accept the terms and conditions of the application developer agreement" option, as shown below, and click "Next" .
5. Enter the “Price” page and enter the registration code you applied for. If you do not have a registration code, you need 300CNY. After entering the registration code, click “Update Total” below the text box. If the registration code is correct, the total amount will be changed from 300CNY to 0CNY, as shown in the figure below, click “Next”.
6. Go to the “Payment” page and explain the corresponding information on your credit card. Click “Next”.
Note: In order to protect your account, we need you to verify your payment method. Here's how it works: We charge a small fee ($0.01 to $5 or an equivalent fee for other currency units) based on your payment method. This fee will be refunded to you within a few days. Access the trading activity of your payment method, retrieve the transaction amount and a description of the fee. Enter this information on your app store dashboard to verify your payment method.
7. Please confirm carefully on the “Confirm Order” page that opens, and click “Buy” after confirmation.
8. If you purchase successfully, the "Thank you" page shown below will open.
9. Click “Continue” in the above picture to see the Windows 8 dashboard, as shown below. At this point, the Windows 8 developer account registration is successful.
Other description: After the account registration is successful, if you want to upload your Windows 8 application immediately, you need to verify that the debit of your credit card is successful before you can publish it. In general, the bank's credit card date and billing day will have a time difference of 1-2 days. If you want to upload the app immediately, you can contact the issuing bank's customer service to get an immediate confirmation.
