Delete Win8 recovery partition, release Surface Pro more storage space

At the time of Surface Pro North America, Microsoft officially explained the Surface Pro storage space:

First look at this form, you might think of Surface Pro The 64GB version has too little storage capacity. But in fact, you can do some simple work to free up some Windows 8 storage space – the most effective one is to remove the recovery space reserved by Windows 8. The following describes the method:

"Disk Management" to delete the system recovery space

1. Release the space of the system recovery tool, the easiest way is: go to the "Control Panel" -> "Administrative Tools" -> "Computer Management" -> "Disk Management" on the left -> Select a recovery partition with a capacity of approximately 7.8 GB on the right (instead of 600MB), right click on "Delete Volume";
2. Right click on C:, select "Extended Volume", click "Next" directly until it is completed.
However, the problem with this is: If your system encounters a problem, you want to quickly recover the system through the "refresh and reset" that comes with Windows 8. Since the recovery partition has been deleted, you will be asked to insert the recovery. The media can use Refresh and Reset.
The Surface Pro team talked about Reddit's Q&A session, why not provide a Surface Pro recovery USB stick, and the reason for choosing a pre-built hard drive recovery partition is:
"We could have done this (referring to the recovery disk) ), but you may lose this recovery USB stick. So we give you the option to free up storage space and make a new recovery drive."
"Create Recovery Drive" to delete system recovery space

The next step to remove the Surface Pro recovery partition method will be more secure, but only need to prepare at least 8GB USB flash drive, and its data will be fully formatted:
1. Windows 8 start screen or press Win+W keyboard shortcut Key, search for "Recovery" or "Restore" in "Settings", find "Create a recovery drive", run;

2. Check "Copy recovery partition from computer to recovery drive", next step;
3. Select the drive to save the recovery partition, the next step;
4. The entire format plus copy recovery partition process takes about 15 minutes;
5. After the completion, recovery drive The device will ask if you want to "delete the recovery partition", click "Delete Recovery Partition" at the bottom, and click "Delete" in the next interface to release about 7.8GB of storage space:

6. After this operation The Surface Pro can be upgraded from 29.8GB to 37.4GB of free space, and the recovery drive is kept in a safe place.
View applications that use more storage

In addition to removing the Microsoft-prepared recovery partitions in Surface Pro, you can also free up space by uninstalling the less commonly used Windows Store apps:
1. “Win+C –> Settings–> Change PC Settings-> General –> View Application Size” Check the application's occupied storage size
2. Then uninstall the unwanted applications in the Windows 8 Start screen
> For Surface Pro and Surface RT, you can also expand your storage in three ways: 1) SkyDrive cloud storage; 2) microSD, microSDHC or microSDXC memory card (currently up to 64GB); 3) USB flash drive or mobile hard drive.
