Win8.1 weight loss battle: how to slim down WinSxS folder

        Just now, we shared how to use the DISM management tool to view the actual size of the Win8.1 WinSxS folder. For the WinSxS folder, almost every Windows enthusiast recognizes its importance and understands the principle of “delete risky”. But this is not absolute.
For example, just edited the WinSxS folder redundancy update under the Win8.1 platform, the result is that the oversized folder shows 6.75G size and the volume is "amazing" (refer to the figure below). Fortunately, under the latest Win8.1 Update platform, we can use the DISM management tool to safely delete the WinSxS folder redundancy update files, saving hundreds of megabytes and more than 1G disk size.

Here, the IT home also organizes the corresponding security cleanup operation steps for Win8.1 users. The specific reference is as follows--
1, for example, under the Win8.1 Update platform, log in to the traditional desktop, right Click the Start button and select Command Prompt (Administrator);

2. Enter the Security Cleanup command at the open command prompt:
Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup
//This command supports the update component of the earlier version (supports Win8.1 RTM, Win8.1 Update platform)
Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase
//Note: After completing this command , will not be able to uninstall the installed update, will not affect the installation and uninstallation of subsequent updates (does not support Win8.1 Update platform, be careful)

3, after waiting for a moment, we enter the WinSxS folder query command again:
Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /AnalyzeComponentStore
//Query the actual size of the current WinSxS folder

Compared to the first time, the current WinSxS folder is obviously slimming, from the original 6.75 G is reduced to 6G size, successfully lose weight 0.75G, refer to the above figure
In addition, the enthusiastic IT Home Forum Star2011 also added the DISM fix Win8.1 image command, especially when the Win8.1 image is corrupted, you can use the Deployment Image Service and Management (DISM) tool to update the file and correct the problem. .
Specially open a command prompt (admin mode) and then run the following command:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
//Scan image check corruption
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
//Check the damaged part of the image. The report image is in good condition, repairable, or unrepairable. If the image can be repaired, you can use the following command to fix the image.
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
//Use Windows Update Online Repair Image
