Restore and restore, make Win 8 system a new look

Unlike the "Reload" system, which removes all personal data, applications, and settings from your computer, "Restore" retains your profile, Windows 8 style (formerly Metro style) applications, and some important settings when reinstalling the Win8 system. Recovery: Reinstall Win8 and keep your personal files, settings, apps that came with your computer, and apps installed from the Windows Store.


Reload (Initialize): Reinstall Win8, and delete the user's files, settings and applications, except for the system's own applications.


Restore: Undo the recent Win8 system changes and restore to the previous system state at a certain point in time.

Recover Win8 system to keep personal files and settings

Use the mouse or finger to swipe from the right edge of the screen to the middle, open the Win8 super button (Charm column), click "Settings", then click "Change computer settings."

Select "General" in "Computer Settings". In the setting item on the right, we can see "Recover the computer without affecting your files". This option corresponds to Win8 system recovery, and "Delete" All content and reinstall Windows" reloads the system that we are familiar with.


Under "Recover your computer without affecting your files," select "Start" and follow the on-screen instructions.

"Recover your computer without affecting your files". You can keep the photos, videos, music and other files in "My Documents" while reinstalling the system, and keep the applications that come with Win8 and Apps installed from the app store, but apps installed from their source will be removed. A list of deleted apps will be displayed after the system is restored. In addition, network connection settings, BitLocker encryption settings, and driver signatures are not affected during the "recovery" process. We can understand that "recovery" is an image file added to the operating system to detect new data. When it is running, the recovery tool restores the user's desktop to the "initial" state by reloading the system and automatically restoring the backup data.

Reinstall Win8 system and delete all personal files and applications


If you want to transfer your computer to others, you can choose to reinstall the system and Fully initialized. Reinstalling the system will delete all personal files and reset the system settings. The applications that come with the Win8 system will be reinstalled and other applications will be deleted.

The operation steps are similar to the refresh system. Select “General” in “Computer Settings”, under “Delete All and Reinstall Windows” on the right, select “Start”, and then follow the prompts.

Note: You will be prompted to choose whether you want to erase data quickly or completely. If you choose to quickly erase data, some data may be recovered by specialized software. If you choose to completely erase the data, it will take longer, but the chances of recovering the data will be much smaller.


Restoring the Win8 system to a previous point in time

If you suspect that recent operations such as installing an application may cause problems with your system, you can restore it to the previous time. Point, the steps are as follows.

To swipe your finger from the right edge of the screen, select “Search” in the charms and click “Set Category”, or press “Win” + W to enter “Settings” search in the search box. Type "Restore" in the word "Resume" in the search results.

Select "Start System Restore" in the "Restore" settings panel of the Control Panel and follow the prompts.



System Restore can help users solve the problem of slow or stop responding to Win8, which does not affect user documents, images and other personal data. Programs and drivers installed after the restore point may be uninstalled.
