Whether you like thrilling action movies, sweet romances or intimate family movies, Windows 8 and Windows RT let you experience the magic of the big screen on your computer. Download or stream your favorite movies and TV shows, then watch them directly or stream them from your computer to your TV. If you have Windows Media Center, you can also watch live TV or record a show so you can watch your favorite clips at any time.

With Windows, you can take your entertainment center with you.

Your computer is equipped with everything you need to get the movies and TV shows you need.

“Video”Apps

Use the video app included with Windows 8 and Windows RT to buy or rent the latest movies or buy your favorite TV shows directly from Xbox videos, or use the video app Play your own video. With instant HD streaming, you don't have to wait for the download, you can watch it directly.

•Xbox video is not available in all countries.

The operation method is as follows:

1. Open the “Search” charm, enter “video”, click “apply”, then click “video”.

2. Scroll to view movie and TV options, browse categories, or search for specific movies or TV shows.

3. Select your movie or show, click to buy or rent, and follow the on-screen instructions.

Watching TV, Movies, and Videos

With Windows 8 and Windows RT, you can watch TV and movies the way you want, whether it's streaming movies from your computer to your TV and family. Watch together at night, or lie flat on the bed and watch the latest episode of your favorite TV show.

Watching TV and Movies with the Video App

Use the video app to watch movies and TV shows purchased from Xbox videos or existing shows that have been moved into the video library.

The operation method is as follows:

1. Open the “Search” charm, enter “video”, click “apply”, then click “video”.

2. Scroll to the left, click “My Videos”, then click on a video to watch.

Watch on TV

Watch on the big screen! You can use your TV to play movies, TV shows, etc. on your computer.

If you have an Xbox 360 or a TV that's compatible with “, you can stream it from your computer to your TV or Xbox 360 without cables.

You can also connect your computer to your TV using a cable. The type of cable used depends on the type of TV and the type of output port on your computer.

After connecting the cable, you can play the program on the TV as follows:

1. Open the “Devices” button and click on “Second Screen”.

2. If you want the same content on your computer and TV, click “Copy” or click “Extensions to transfer the movie stream to your TV while using your computer.

Using your computer as a remote control

If you have an Xbox 360, you can use the Xbox SmartGlass app (free) to turn a computer running Windows 8 or Windows RT into a remote control. Interact with your favorite TV shows, movies, and sports to get the latest entertainment news about what you see. If you start watching on your computer, you can also use SmartGlass to move what you see to your TV.

Playing DVDs

If you want to play a DVD on your computer, just use the right app. You can browse the Windows Store and buy apps that play DVDs. If you have already purchased the Windows Media Center Professional Pack or the Professional Pack Upgrade, you no longer need anything else.

•Windows Media Center is not available for Windows RT. Which Windows operating system am I running now? Here's how to play a DVD using Windows Media Center:

1. Open the “Search” charm, enter “Windows Media Center", click “Apply”, then click “Windows Media Center&rdquo ;

2. Make sure Media Center is in full screen mode and then insert the DVD into your computer.

3. If the main title menu for the DVD is not displayed, scroll to “movie” and click “Play DVD”.

4. Use the playback controls to fast forward, rewind, forward or backward skip, pause, adjust volume and mute.

Record live TV shows, watch later

If you buy Windows Media Center, you can record live TV shows and movies on your computer. You can even schedule the latest episodes of your favorite TV series.

Settings

If you don't have Windows Media Center, you can purchase the Windows Media Center package.

•Windows Media Center is not available for Windows RT. Which Windows operating system am I running now? Before you start, you need two things:

A TV tuner for connecting to your computer. It can be found online or in the home appliance city.

Go to the Windows 8 Compatibility Center to learn about the TV tuner you can use.

TV sources (eg via TV antennas or cable TV jacks).

Connect your TV tuner to your computer and make sure your source is suitable for your TV tuner, then you can start watching the recordings.

Recording a live TV show

1. Open the “Search” button, type “Windows Media Center”, click “ Apply & rdquo;, then click “Windows Media Center” .

2. Scroll to "TV" and click “Live TV”.

3. To record while playing a TV show, click the “record” button in the playback controls.

Schedule a Recording

1. Open the “Search” charm, enter “Windows Media Center", click “Apply”, then click “Windows Media Center”.

2. Scroll to "TV" and click "Search”.

3. Tap the category (such as the title) you want to search by, and follow the instructions to start the search.

4. On the search results page, tap the TV show or movie you want to record, then click “Record” to schedule the recording.

Watching a recorded TV show

1. Open the “Search” charm, enter “Windows Media Center", click “apply”, then click “Windows Media Center&rdquo ;

2. Scroll to "TV", click “recorded TV", click on the TV show you want to watch, then click “Play” or “Continue”.

Use playback controls to fast forward, rewind, forward or backward skip, pause, change volume, and mute.
