How Win8 uses iSCSI initiator

Win8 uses the iSCSI initiator as follows:

iSCSI technology is a set of SCSI instructions for hardware devices that can run on the upper layer of the IP protocol. The SCSI protocol can be implemented over IP networks to enable routing on high-speed Gigabit Ethernet. iSCSI technology is a new storage technology that combines existing SCSI interfaces with Ethernet technology to enable servers to exchange data with storage devices that use IP networks.

Operation steps:

1. In the “Management Tools” in the Win7 Control Panel, click ““iSCSI Initiator” to prompt the user to enable the service. You can have the service start automatically each time the computer starts.

2. In the "iSCSI initiator" attribute interface, the target option, you can directly enter the IP address or DNS name, and then click "Quick Connect".

3. In the "Discovery" option, the user can add the discovery portal directly to the target portal, or add an iSNS server.

4. In addition, the ISCSI initiator can automatically configure a specific volume or device used by a program or service. In operation, on the "Volumes & Devices" option page, click “Automatic Configuration”
