Why use system information to determine startup

  
                

Windows system information is an important feature for users, especially if you need someone else to help; because the person you ask for will definitely ask for some information about your system. The “System Information” tool displays detailed information about the computer hardware, system components, and software environment. Use this tool to help identify device and device conflicts that may be problematic.

To do this, follow these steps:

Click Start , and then click Run.

In the Open box, type msinfo32 and then click OK.

Look for a problematic device or device conflict. To do this, perform the following steps:

In the console tree, expand Components, and then click the device in question.

Note any devices listed in the right pane.

In the console tree, expand Hardware Resources and click Conflict/Share.

Note any resource conflicts listed in the right pane.

If you find a problematic device, perform the appropriate actions (such as removing, disabling, or reconfiguring the device, or updating the driver) and then restarting the computer in normal mode.

You can use “Device Manager> to remove or disable devices and their drivers. For more information on <;Device Manager", see the section "Using Device Manager to Determine the Cause of a Startup Problem" in this article.

If the computer starts up correctly, that particular device might be the cause of the startup issue.

If you resolve the issue by disabling the device, make sure that the device is listed on the Windows Server 2003 Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) and is properly installed. Also, report the phenomenon to the manufacturer and get information about possible updates that can resolve startup issues. If the <quo;System Information> tool does not report any device conflicts or has a problematic device, check the program that starts automatically when Windows starts. To do this, follow these steps: In the console tree, expand Software Environments, and then click Start Programs.

The program that starts automatically when Windows starts is listed in the right pane. Disable these programs and restart your computer.

For information on how to disable the program, see the program documentation or contact the manufacturer. If the startup issue is resolved after disabling the launcher, enable these programs again (one program at a time).

Shut down and restart your computer each time you enable a program, and be aware of an incorrect startup. If this happens, the last enabled program might be the cause of the error startup problem.
