Analysis of WindowsServer2008 hardware requirements

While releasing the Windows Server 2008 RC0 preview, Microsoft also announced the hardware configuration requirements of the new system, covering all aspects. The details are as follows: Processor: Minimum 1.0GHz x86 or 1.4GHz x64, recommended 2.0GHz or faster; Itanium 2 is required for Itanium. Memory: Minimum 512MB, 2GB or more recommended. Maximum memory capacity support: 32-bit Standard Edition 4GB, Enterprise Edition and Data Center Edition 64GB; 64-bit Standard Edition 32GB, other versions 2TB. Hard disk space: at least 10GB, 40GB or more recommended; systems with more than 16GB of memory require more space for pages, hibernation, and transfer files. Optical drive: DVD-ROM display: SVGA 800× 600 resolution or higher. Mouse: compatible devices. It is also important that Windows Server 2008 64-bit systems other than the Itanium version must be digitally signed. The core mode driver will be rejected otherwise. To disable the digital signature driver feature, press F8 at system startup, select the advanced boot option, and then disable the driver signature check. Finally, attach the Windows Server version upgrade guide (without Itanium version). The 32-bit and 64-bit versions must be upgraded and cannot be cross-platform.
