Win2003 is stronger than Linux

Microsoft's recent comments on Linux in the "Get The Facts" campaign continue to heat up. This time, Microsoft announced based on the test results provided by Veritest: Windows Server 2003 performs better than Red Hat Linux Server in file and print service tasks. Veritest compared the performance between the Windows 2003 Standard Edition server and Red Hat Linux Enterprise Linux ES 3.0 running Samba 3.0 in the test. Samba 3.0 is software that allows Linux/Unix servers to load Windows clients. The server system tested was the HP DL380 G3 and the Dell PowerEdge 500SC. The former was configured as a Pentium 4 2.8 GHz dual processor, 4 GB RAM, Intel PRO/1000 MT dual port Gigabit server adapter; the latter configuration was a Pentium III 1 GHz processor. 1GB of RAM, onboard Intel 100M Ethernet Adapter and Intel PRO/100 Fast Ethernet NIC. According to Microsoft, the results of the test show that Windows servers are 46% better than HP-based Linux servers and 24% better than Dell Linux servers. In addition, Microsoft also claimed that after the data write optimization of Windows Server 2003, the file service performance of the two servers is 60% stronger than the Linux server. Microsoft has seen Linux as a major competitor in the server operating system field. It established the Get The Facts website in January this year and has participated in the LinuxWorld Expo to showcase its products.
