Win10/8.1 ESD Image File Installation and User Guide

Since Windows 8, Microsoft has adopted ESD, a file format with higher compression ratio, which has a higher compression ratio than WIM. At present, only the Microsoft image deployment and management tool DISM supports the processing of esd image files, but most ESD files are encrypted and need to be decrypted before converting ISO/WIM files and installing systems. Let's take a look at the ESD guide below with An Xia Xiaobian.
First, decrypt the ESD file
Most ESD files are encrypted, so to use ESD files, the first step must be to decrypt the ESD file.
1. Download and extract the esd decrypter v4c Chinese version, and place the ESD file in the esd decrypter batch file directory.

Third, use DISM to view esd image information
DISM get-wiminfo command to view ESD image information, execute the following command in CMD:
dism/get-wiminfo/wimfile: D:downloads9600.17050.winblue_refresh.140317-1640 _x64fre_client_Professional_zh-cn-ir3_cpra_x64frer_zh-cn_esd.esd
We can see from the above figure that the esd file is actually a complete installation image! Compared with the MSDN standard image, the index 2 image here corresponds to the No. 1 image of sources/boot.wim in the MSDN image, and the No. 3 image corresponds to the No. 2 image of sources/boot.wim in the MSDN image, and the No. 4 image corresponds to the MSDN image. Sources/install.wim, image 1 corresponds to the files in the MSDN image except boot.wim and install.wim.
It should be noted that the DISM in the Windows 8.1 update version of the system can view ESD image information, because the latest version of DISM has this feature. If you are not using Windows 8.1 update, you need to install the Windows 8.1 ADK.
