How to remove the default naming copy of Win10 copy file?

When we copy a file to the same directory in Win7/Win8.1/Win10, the system will automatically append the copy file name after the copy file name ” suffix. For example, copy the file named “本.jpg” to the same directory, and the copy file will be automatically named “ copy-.jpg”. If you continue to copy, the number will be incremented after the file name, as follows. The picture shows:

Are there any way to remove the "copy" words, or make the name of the copy file more personalized? The answer is of course affirmative. In Windows 10, we can customize the naming rules for copy files. If you have such special requirements, please refer to the following method:

Note: The following operations require the registry to be opened. Before using the cleanup master in the soft media cube (click here to download) to back up the registry, in order to quickly restore in the event of an error.

1, first press Win+R to open the run, enter regedit and press Enter to open the registry editor;

2, navigate to the following location: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Explorer \\

If the NamingTemplates item is not found in the above location, create it as shown below:

3, click on the newly created NamingTemplates and create a new character named CopyNameTemplate on the right side. String value.

Then you can modify the NamingTemplates value according to your needs to get the rules you want.

The system default naming rules should be: %s - copy

where %s represents the original file name part, if you set the NamingTemplates value to %s, then the system will Automatically remove the “-copy” suffix of the copy file name, and only add the numbered sequence number in parentheses after the file name.

You can modify the rules arbitrarily according to your own ideas, such as changing to “jb51 - %s”, the effect is as shown in the following figure:

The NamingTemplates value may not even contain %s, so the copy file name is completely different from the original file name. In short, the system will name the copy file according to any rules you specify. For multiple copies, the number is always distinguished by a numeric number after the file name.

How did you learn the code? If you are trying on someone else's computer, don't forget to change it back. Just delete the NamingTemplates key.
