How to get online with Windows 10 is easier

Because each local network environment is different, but everyone generally uses the default settings of Windows
10 to access the Internet, so often encounter such problems in daily use. In fact, many problems can be solved by custom settings.

Connection order yourself

Notebook users mostly have Wi-Fi and wired connection. In order to get more stable Internet speed, many friends at home like to use wired connection. However, by default, the wireless and wired connections of the notebook are automatically connected. How do you let the notebook automatically select a faster wired network?

For the connection order of network connections, Windows 10 uses “ hops to distinguish, so we can manually modify the "hop" method to achieve wired connection priority. Go to “Network and Sharing Center →Change Adapter Settings“, select the current "wired connection" right click and select “property", double click in the opened properties window<;Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4 )”. Click “Advanced”, then uncheck the "Automatic hops" under the "IP Settings" tab, and change the wired connection to a high priority connection, which will change its "interface hops" to rdquo; “10”, the same reason to change the WLAN's "interface hops" to rdquo;20”, the smaller the number of hops, the higher the priority of the connection (Figure 1).

Figure 1 Change the number of hops

Note that the number of hops here should not be set arbitrarily. It is best to set it according to your actual network conditions. The correspondence between the general hop count and the network speed is shown in Figure 2 (Figure 2).

Wireless connection is more specific

Now many offices have multiple hotspots to access the Internet, by default Windows 10 will preferentially select the hottest hotspot to connect. However, due to the large number of devices connected to Wi-Fi in the office, many times the connected hotspots are not as fast as the Internet. We can connect Windows 10 to a specific hotspot, so we can avoid the hotspots that connect users.

First connect to the fastest hotspot manually. After the connection is successful, expand “Control Panel\\Network and Internet\\Network Connection”, and remember the name of the wireless connection here, such as Windows 10 default. Yes & ldquo;WLAN” (Figure 3).

Figure 3 View the wireless connection name

Then start the command prompt as an administrator and type "netsh wlan set autoconfig enabled=no interface= "WLAN"”, In this way, the system automatically closes the automatic configuration of the wireless connection. The interface parameter is followed by the wireless connection name. If you want to restore the default settings, change the parameter “ld”; no” to “ld”;yes” (Figure 4).

After completing the above settings, the notebook will only connect to the specified hotspots, and will not search for other hotspots after the hotspot list is expanded. Naturally, it will not connect to other hotspots. Connect with the fastest hotspots (Figure 5).
