Hide my folder

        Xiaoqiang:
In order to hide files on the hard disk in Windows Explorer, many people may choose some third-party encryption software to achieve these functions. In fact, we don't have to be so troublesome. Just let Windows play, and you can make your resource manager keep your mouth shut.

Open the settings window from "Start → Settings → Folder Options" or Explorer "Tools → Folder Options", click the "View" tab, you can control the display of the folder "Advanced settings". So, do you know how to better use it to protect your files?

Hide unprotected

Many people use such an easy way to protect and hide their important files: in the "Advanced Settings" window, select "Do not show hidden files or system files" in "Hidden Files" (Figure 1), and then set the properties of important files or folders to "System or Hidden Files" in Explorer to make files from others The bottom of the eyelids disappeared.

This is a very effective method for beginners, but with a few basic users, this is not easy to attack - as long as you select "Show all files", everything is exposed! However, smart people have their own way, they will use the software such as "Knight System Modifier" to make the "Folder Options" menu disappear from the system, so that you can't start, unless you find another such software to restore it. Otherwise, you know that you can only blink.

Sesame does not open the door

In fact, there is a more absolute way, let us carry out an experiment: run "regedit" to start the registry editor, open KEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindows< BR>CurrentVersionexplorerAdvancedFolderHiddenSHOWALL, for security reasons, please export the branch first, then delete the SHOWALL branch, reopen the "Advanced Settings" window, you will no longer be able to find the "Show all files and folders" option, naturally others want to modify Nothing to start!

have a certain understanding of the registry friend will soon be able to understand the mystery: the original all settings "folder options" are saved in the registry ... Advanced (ibid.) Branch. Just do a little bit of work in the registry, the "Folder Options" dialog is in your hands!
Figure 1 This kind of hiding is not armed

Taking Windows 98 as an example, the 8 primary keys under the Folder primary key correspond to "Files and Folders" in the "Advanced Settings" window. The 8 options, the 3 primary keys under Visual respectively correspond to the 3 options under "Visual Settings". Which option is specific, as long as you can see the key names of the "Key" corresponding to each primary key name and primary key in the right pane of the Registry Editor window (Figure 2).

for example, "Text" keys SHOWALL primary key corresponding to "Show all files", explained SHOWALL primary key corresponds to the "Advanced Settings" window "Show All Files" option. Therefore, when we delete this SHOWALL branch, we can no longer find this option, even if it is called "sesame open" does not work.

Cloud deep does not know

In order to prevent others from modifying a folder option in "Advanced Settings", we can achieve it in two ways:
< BR>1, let the option "disappear"

As mentioned above, this option will not be displayed as long as the primary key branch corresponding to the option is deleted. For example, removing the HideFileExt branch will turn off the "Hide extensions for known file types" option. If you have not backed up, it will be more troublesome to recover after deleting the branch. In fact, there is an easier way to close the option: find the binary key value of the corresponding primary key under the name "Type", double-click to modify its key value, add any number after the original key value to close the option . For example, if the key value of "Type" under the SHOWALL primary key is changed from "radio" to "radio2", the corresponding "display all files" option will not be displayed. In this case, when you want to restore the display later, just change "radio2" back to "radio".
Figure 2 The real control in the registry

2, let the modification "invalid"

option does not appear in the dialog box, it will inevitably cause doubt. If the changes don't work, they can often confuse others. Under the primary key corresponding to each specific option, there is a binary value named "CheckedValue". When the key value is changed to "0", the modification of any option will not take effect by others (note: if the primary key corresponds Is the check box option, then the "UncheckedValue" key value can also be found under the primary key, please check whether its value is "0", if not, first change to "0".

For example, the first cancellation in the "Advanced Settings" to "Show All Files" option checked, then the next key SHOWALL branch "CheckedValue" changed to "0", regardless of the dialog box How to set it up, the hidden files will not be displayed in the Explorer, so that your files are hidden more reliably. Of course, as long as the "CheckedValue" key value is changed back to "1", the modification of the corresponding option can be effective immediately. After

this setting, users do not understand the registry is concerned, in order to view your hidden files, turns out to be "Cloudland do not know at" the. If your computer is often visited by someone, if you don't want others to change the folder option settings at will, try it.
