How to open the registry

We can click to start - Run, or press and hold the Win button (field key) in the lower left corner of the computer, press the R key at the same time, call up the running window, enter regedit in the running window, confirm, open the registry editor, and modify the registry. Under Win7, we can also type regedit directly in the search box in the start menu, and you can also open the registry editor after you press Enter.

The specific location of the registry editor in the computer is in the C directory of the Windows directory, the file name is regedit.exe. If we often need to use the registry, or feel that the command to open the registry is difficult to remember, you can create a desktop shortcut for this file. In the case that the exe format is damaged or cannot be opened, we can go to the directory and rename regedit.exe to regedit.com or regedit.scr to open the registry. But on Win7 systems, this renaming needs to be done using third-party tools such as XueTr to break file permissions.
