Mozilla stops developing 64-bit Windows version of Firefox

Beijing time on the morning of November 23, according to CNET reports, Mozilla engineering manager Benjamin · Benjamin Smedberg has asked developers to stop developing Windows platform 64-bit version of Firefox.

A developer posted a post titled "Close Win64 Development" on a related forum, saying that it was written by Smedberg and asked to stop the development of the 64-bit Windows version of Firefox. .

Smedberg said that the reason for stopping the development of the 64-bit Windows version of Firefox is that this browser "has always been the source of misunderstandings and frustrations" and often crashes during development. Many plugins do not support 64-bit versions, and the lack of code can cause plug-in functionality to not work properly. In addition, Smedberg also believes that this will give users the feeling of "second-rate"; and for the stability maintenance team, the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the error report are indistinguishable.

Then Smedberg posted a post in Bugzilla asking developers to "stop developing the 64-bit Windows version of Firefox and its tests".
