COPY command instructions

copy is the meaning of copying in English. The so-called copy is the original file without any change, and a file with no difference between the original and the original file is regenerated. Here is the format of the copy command and some of the issues with this note:

Now let's look at an example where there is a file called autoexec.bat in the root directory, if we want to copy it as autoexec. Old, you can type copy autoexec.bat autoexec.old Type dir, in addition to the original autoexec.bat file, an autoexec.old file appears, and the size of the two files are the same.

If we want to copy edit.com from the dos directory to the current directory, type copy c:\\dos\\edit.com from the keyboard (note that the destination directory name and file name are omitted. ), the source file name is the edit.com file in the dos directory under the root directory of the C drive. The drive and directory are pointed out here, and the destination file is omitted. This means that the file is copied to the current directory, and the name is unchanged. It is also edit.com.

If you want to copy the file to another drive, for example to copy to the A drive, you can type copy edit.com a: (Remember to insert the disk into the A drive).

The copy command can also use wildcards. For example, to copy all files starting with K on the A disk, you can enter copy a:k*.*. If you want to copy all the extensions in the root directory of the C drive, it is bat. To the zht directory, you can enter copy c:\\*.bat c:\\zht.

There are two main purposes for copying files. One is to make a backup of important files, so as not to be regretted after being deleted. The second is to exchange information between different computers, you can put your work results. Copy it to a floppy disk and give it to your boss or colleague, or bring it home. The last thing to mention is that there is no difference between copying a file and copying a file. A copy is a transliteration of copy.
