Automatic shutdown is a very useful feature, but Windows itself does not seem to have this feature, automatic shutdown can bring convenience to users. So can you let Windows 2000/XP shut down automatically without some extras and programs?

The answer is certainly yes. Windows XP system directory windowssystem32 has a shutdown.exe file, which is a shutdown program that comes with Windows. If you want Windows 2000 to achieve the same effect, you can copy shutdown.exe to the system directory. Let's take an example. If you plan to shut down your computer at AM1:00 (1 am), click "Start" → "Run", enter "at 1:00shutdown -s", and at 1 am, the computer will be The “System Shutdown” dialog box will appear, with a default countdown of 30 seconds and prompting you to save your work. If you want to shut down in a countdown mode, you can type "shutdown.exe-s-t 6000" to indicate that the system will automatically shut down after 6000 seconds.
