Win 2000 disk defragmentation

  

computer has been used for a long time, the disk saves a large number of files, these files are not stored in a contiguous disk space, but a file is scattered in many places, these scattered files Known as "disk fragmentation", these fragments can degrade the performance of the entire Windows. So Windows provides a program to defragment the disk. (See Figure 1)

Open the “Start” menu, move the mouse to “Program”"Accessories","System Tools", click “ Disk Defragment Finishing program & rdquo;. (See Figure 2)

The "Disk Defragmenter" under Windows 2000 is quite different from Windows 98. Generally, let the program analyze the usage of the disk, select the C drive, and click “ Analysis & rdquo;. (See Figure 3.) The status bar below the window shows the current progress of the operation. Soon the analysis is over, and at the same time, it is given whether there is a need to sort out the recommendations, and now the program recommends defragmentation.

In the following "Analysis" column, you can also see the distribution of files. The red part is a scattered file, and the white part is a blank area. We can also look at the analysis report and click “View Report”. (See Figure 4)

Pop-up report, the upper column shows the basic information of C drive (volume) and the distribution of fragments Proportion, the list of the most scattered files below. Click “& quo defragmentation”, (see Figure 5) to start the process. This process takes a long time, mainly related to the number of partitions of the file.

The process of sorting can see the distribution of files and the overall progress. After the finishing is finished, a prompt will appear, click “Close” to end. (See Figure 6)
