Upgrade Windows 2003 to Windows 2008

After making the Chinese version of Windows Server 2008, first install the software in the virtual machine, and then you want to upgrade the Windows Server 2003 on the host to Windows Server 2008. Office 2007, nod32, download express, five pens, Daemon Tools virtual drive, Nero burning software, HyperSnap, VMware Workstation and other software are installed on the host.

At the time of the upgrade, the installer checked that the "Daemon Tools virtual drive, Nero burning software" was not compatible with the system, and the two softwares need to be uninstalled before the upgrade, as shown in Figure 1.

After uninstalling the program, you can re-run the installer. If Nero is installed in the "Green" version, you can remove all the programs related to "Nero" from the "Registry" and continue to upgrade. The following is the main process of upgrading Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2008.

(1) After entering Windows Server 2003, run the Windows Server 2008 installer.

(2)“Do not get the latest installation updates.

(3) Select “Windows Server 2008 EnterPrise (Full Installation)”, as shown in Figure 4

(6) Enter the “Compatibility Report” page. Figure 1 shows the compatibility report page. If the check is ok, “Next” will appear. ” button, if there is a problem, the page of Figure 1 appears and the “Close" button appears. As shown in Figure 7.

(7) After upgrading Windows, as shown in Figure 8.

Figure 8 Start the upgrade

This step takes about a few minutes and will start the first reboot after the completion.

(8) Before the upgrade is completed, there will be two restart processes. Before the second reboot, the page of Figure 8 will also appear. However, this time, similar to Figure 8, it is not Chinese. It is not English, but some "boxes", after the second reboot, the third time you enter the system, the Chinese will be displayed again. These are not captured.

(9) After the upgrade, in addition to the use of Acdsee 9.0, nod32, HyperSnap, Office 2007 can be used.

(10) In Windows Server 2008, VMware Workstation 6.02 can be used normally, but VMware Server 1.04 cannot be used (can be installed, but after installation, Vmware Server related services cannot be started). Looking at the official documentation of VMware, Vmware Server 2.0 can support Windows Server 2008 host operating system. It is estimated that after Windows 2008 is officially released, a version such as VMware Server 1.05 will be supported for Windows Server 2008. Vmware Server 2.0 was used on Windows Server 2003 before, and it was found to be too memory-intensive, especially the Tomcat management program, and Vmware Server 2.0 does not have a management console similar to VMware Server 1.x, which can only be managed in the browser. This is another topic that will be introduced later. In addition, Windows Server 2008 32-bit directly supports 4GB of memory, and it is estimated that Windows Vista SP1 (32-bit) will also support 4GB of memory.

(11) In the next test, I found that ISA Server 2006 can not be installed under Windows Server 2008. It is rumored that the ISA Server 2008 message may be true. It is estimated that ISA Server should be installed on Windows Server 2008. I should wait for the ISA Server 2008 version, I hope this time is faster.
