Vista account password reset cheat disclosure

In the past era of Windows XP operating system, if you accidentally forget the system administrator's password, it often takes a lot of time, even with other tools to modify or restore. Now the situation in Vista is different. Because Windows Vista's pre-installation environment (Windows Preinstallation Environment 2.0) is powerful, you can set up a Vista temporary account to log into Vista by using the Windows PE 2.0 "system repair option" and the method described in this article. And reset the administrator password.
1. First, please go to Microsoft's official website to download the tool package "Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools" and install it on other computers. We need the "Srvany.exe" file inside to proceed with the next steps. Please copy the file to your desktop. Note: Srvany.exe is an application in Microsoft's Windows Resource Kit toolkit. Its function is to run an executable file as a system service. Not necessary for the average user, but for the system administrator, it is more convenient to add a new service program to the computer.
2. Run the "Notepad" program, enter the following two lines of instructions (Figure 1), and then save the file as a batch file named "AddUser.bat" and save it to the desktop.

Copy adduser.bat c:\\
Reg load HKLM\\AddUser_SYSTEM C:\\Windows\\system32\\config\\SYSTEM
C:\\Windows \\system32\\sc create AddUser Type=own Start=auto Binpath=C:\\srvany.exe Obj=LocalSystem
Reg add HKLM\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\services\\AddUser\\Parameters/v Application/t REG_SZ/dc:AddUser. Bat
Reg copy HKLM\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\services\\AddUser HKLMAddUser_SYSTEM\\ControlSet001\\services\\AddUser/s /f
Reg unload HKLM\\AddUser_SYSTEM
4. Put "AddUser.bat" on the desktop, " Three files, such as StartMe.bat" and "Srvany.exe", are copied to the floppy disk (A:\\). If the computer does not have a floppy drive, you can also replace the floppy disk with a USB flash drive.

5. downloaded from the Internet WinPE 2.0 CD-ROM image file, and then use the burning software such as NERO burn a bootable CD-ROM bootable. Run the Windows PE 2.0 boot CD, and after the System Repair Options window appears, select the Command Prompt item. Then enter the "A:\\StartMe" command in the pop-up "Command Prompt" window. If you are using a flash drive, modify the disk drive letter corresponding to the command as appropriate.
6. Then restart the computer. When the Vista login screen appears, click the power button at the bottom right of the screen and select “Restart”. The second time you restart your computer, the operating system will successfully create a temporary account called "test" for everyone to use. You can modify the passwords of other user accounts by logging in to the Vista operating system with this account.
7. Click on "Control Panel" -> "User Account and Family Safety" -> "User Account" to enter the configuration window. Since the account name for which the login password was forgotten in this example is "lybnet", please click on the "Manage Other Accounts" item (Figure 3). Note: If the Vista System has activated the User Account Control function, please select "Continue" in the pop-up window.
