Windows Vista platform IE7 protection mode

Many consumers ask us when IE7's protected mode function is turned on and when it is turned off in Windows Vista. Protected mode is a feature unique to IE7 on the Vista platform. By default, IE7's protected mode is enabled on the Internet, internal networks, and restricted areas, while IE7's protected mode is turned off when accessing trusted sites and local computers.
If you want to enable or disable protected mode for a zone, you can set it like this: Internet Options -> Security -> Select Trusted Zone -> Enable Protected Mode. In the lower right corner of the IE status bar, the user can view the enabled status of the current protection mode. However, even if the user sees that the protection mode is enabled in the Internet Options dialog box, the status bar shows "protect mode: off". The reason for this is because there may be some potential factors that cause the protection mode to shut down. As shown below:
1, User Account Control (UAC) is disabled — — If UAC is disabled, then IE's protection mode will be turned off. When UAC is disabled, some of the protections that the protection mode relies on will fail. Therefore, when UAC is disabled, the protection mode will be turned off.
2, IE is running with administrator privileges — — when you right-click on the IE icon and select “ run with administrator privileges to enable IE, or when IE runs from other applications with administrator privileges The protection mode will be turned off. This usually happens when a new IE process is started when the installer is run with administrator privileges.
3, IE opens a local HTML page & mdash; & mdash; When viewing a local file, IE's protection mode is turned off, because IE thinks that local files are safe. Of course, if the page is saved to a local area (such as the Internet), then when the protection mode is enabled, the protection mode of IE is enabled.
The following flow chart shows the above IE protection mode shutdown:
When users surf the Internet in open protection mode, they can get more secure protection. If the protection mode is enabled and the IE status bar shows "protect mode: off", the user can close the window and reopen a new IE window.
