21 tips for Win XP system (2)

10, change the default location of the program installation

The default path of the general software installation is C:\\Program Files directory. Many people choose the default path when installing the software, and the result is C drive. When it is full, the system area is overwhelmed.

We can build a Programs folder on the D drive, specifically to install the software, and set D:\\Programs as the default installation path of the system. Thus, each time the software is installed, the default path becomes "D:\\Programs", eliminating the need to change the installation path for each installation.
The setting method is as follows:
Start menu--Run, type "regedit", open "Registry Editor".
Open "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion"
to find the "ProgramFilesDir" button (this key value records the path of Program Files)
Double-click to change the value "C:\\Program Files" to "D:\\Programs". OK!
