Ten Windows FAQs for Windows XP SP2

Windows XP SP2 has been released for a long time, and many of my friends have installed it. However, during use, you have encountered one or the other problem. Here, I summarize some common problems based on my experience, I hope to help my friends!

Question 1: After I installed SP2 successfully, I always found a red shield in the taskbar when I booted up. Click to enter the prompt & ldquo; virus protection is not enabled & rdquo;, I installed Norton Security SWAT 2004! what happened? But these two days have disappeared mysteriously! Later, I felt that Norton's own firewall was better. I turned off the firewall that comes with Windows in the options, but there is a red shield in the taskbar. What should I do?

A: In SP2, Microsoft joined a "Security Center" console, which is mainly to detect the status of virus protection, firewall, and automatic update in the system. If it is not detected, a red shield will automatically pop up at boot to indicate a warning. In fact, Windows SP2 can't accurately detect most anti-virus software, even if you have it installed correctly! In fact, you just need to enter the "Control Panel", click "and virus protection" under "Recommended", check "I have installed anti-virus programs and monitor their status", next time boot I won't remind you. Now, major anti-virus software vendors have improved compatibility with SP2, as long as they are upgraded to the latest version. Your "mysterious disappearance" is actually the software itself is automatically upgraded and updated. In addition, the problem of the firewall can be referred to the above method of "virus protection", which is carried out in the "Firewall" tab. In addition, you can also find the Security Center Service & Security Center from the “Control Panel & Rarr; Management Tools & Rarr; Service & rdquo; window to disable it.

Question 2: I am using ADSL virtual dial-up Internet, no IP is set. After installing SP2, every time you open ADSL Modem, the system will automatically find the IP address, which will naturally fail every time, and the dialog box for renewing IP appears. And the local connection always has a yellow exclamation mark, showing "restricted or no connection", although it does not affect the dialing, but it does not feel good, how can I prohibit this problem?

A: This problem stems from the fact that the network card does not have a fixed IP address. In order to ensure communication, Windows automatically assigns an IP address to the network card.

Method 1: Enter the control panel, cancel “ network connection & rarr; local connection & rarr; attributes & rarquo; regular & rdquo; tab under the "notice when this connection is restricted or no connection" & rdquo; this option .

Method 2: Specify an IP address for your network card in the “Network Connection & Rarr; Local Connection & Rarr; Attribute & Rarr; TCP/IP” attribute (Note: Be sure to keep the IP address of the ADSL Modem Same network segment). It is recommended to use the second method, which can also reduce the boot time!

Question 3: I use dual system. After installing SP2, found in the dual boot menu file: boot.ini file "multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\\Windows="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute= OptIn” has more than one/NoExecute=OptIn” one, but does not affect the use of dual systems. What does this mean?

A: It is due to another important security feature in SP2 - "Data Execution Protection (referred to as: DEP)". You can find it in “Control Panel →System →Advanced →Setting →Data Execution Protection”. When you switch between these two, “/NoExecute=OptIn” will also become ““/NoExecute=Optout”. Note: This feature requires hardware support: AMD Athlon 64, AMD Opteron, Intel's Itanium and Itanium 2, and companies such as NVIDIA, VIA, and Transmeta are also expected to add the technology to their chips. It is recommended that ordinary users do not modify it, otherwise it will cause the system to run unstable. (For more information on DEP, please refer to Microsoft's KB875352 knowledge base file.)

Question 4: Due to work reasons, I often use China Merchants Bank's online banking business. Can I upgrade to SP2 and find that I can't see the verification code? This is how to do?

A: In some websites that require authentication (such as online banking), most of them use the asp to dynamically generate Xbm format pictures to display the verification code. However, SP2 does not support Xbm format pictures by default, which makes it impossible to see the verification code. We can do this by modifying the registry: Click "Start”→“Run”, enter “regedit” Enter and enter the registry, navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Internet Explorer\\Security, in In the right window, create a new dword value <;blockXbm” and set the key value to “00000000” to take effect after restart.
