How to operate the Windows XP system repair function Prepare a Windows XP installation CD and install the serial number under the paper note. Set the CD as the first boot disk, insert the XP CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive and restart the computer. Press the Enter key when “Boot for CDROM...” appears, and then the CD-ROM will display as shown in Figure 1 below. The figure shows "To install Windows XP now, please press ENTER", so press Enter directly here, as shown in Figure 2 below. The lower box in the figure above lists the list of XP systems present on the current hard disk and prompts “To fix the selected Windows XP installation, press R ”. There is only one XP in the current hard disk, the default is already selected, no need to choose. After directly pressing the “R” key, the installer starts: check the disk, delete the old files in the original XP system, create a list of files to be copied, copy files to the system folder, initial Windows XP configuration, set startup items, and then Ready to restart automatically after 15 seconds. When restarting, please set the hard disk as the first boot disk, or remove the CD and restart it. After booting, follow the prompts to insert the installation CD. After starting up, it will appear as shown in Figure 4 below. After 5 minutes, when the prompt still takes 33 minutes, it will appear as shown in Figure 5 below. The default values ​​for the regional and language settings can be used. Simply click the “Next” button to appear as shown in Figure 6. If you don't pre-record the product key (installation serial number), it's a big deal! Enter the installation serial number, click the “Next” button to continue the installation. After about 3 minutes, it will appear as shown in Figure 7. Click “Next” to continue the installation. After you get here, you will not need to participate. The installer will complete the whole process automatically. After the installation is completed, it will be automatically restarted. After the startup, as shown in Figure 8 after the repair, the original installed programs are all unchanged and can run normally. Then open the “Add/Remove” program to see, as shown in Figure 9 below. All the original system patches (with SP2 installed) are gone, and the backup folder created when SP2 is installed is also uninstalled by the repair installer. The system patch needs to be reinstalled after the installation is fixed. After the installation, the original settings of the system have not changed.
