Install printer under Windows XP

  


In the process of using the computer, sometimes it is necessary to output some files in writing. 9.2.1 Installing the local printer
Before installing the local printer, first connect the printer. The user can turn off the printer's signal cable and the computer's LPT1 port. Connected, and connected to the power supply, after the connection is completed, you can boot the system and prepare to install its driver. Since the Chinese version of Windows XP comes with some hardware drivers, the system will automatically search for new ones during the startup of the computer. Hardware and load its driver, it will prompt the installation process on the taskbar, such as “ find new hardware & rdquo;, & ldquo; find new The text box has been installed and can be used. If the driver of the printer connected to the user is not displayed in the hardware list of the system, the user needs to use the CD attached to the printer manufacturer for manual operation. Installation, users can refer to the following steps to install:
(1) Click the "Start" button, select the "Control Panel" command in the "Start" menu, open the "Control Panel" In the window, double-click the "Printers and Faxes" icon, and then open the "Printers and Faxes" window.
(2) Click on the "Printer Tasks" option in the window link area < Add Printer ” icon, you can start the "Add Printer Wizard". In this dialog box, the user should be reminded that if the user connects to the printer via a USB port or other hot-swappable port, there is no need to use this wizard. Just plug the printer's cable into the computer or point the printer to the computer's infrared port. After opening the printer, the Chinese version of Windows XP will automatically install the printer, shown in Figure 9.8

(3) Click & ldquo;. Next & rdquo; button to open the & ldquo; local or network printer & rdquo; dialog Users can choose to install local or network printers, here select "local printer connected to this computer", single option, as shown in Figure 9.9.

When you select & ldquo; Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer & rdquo; check box, and then will appear in the & ldquo; new printer detection & rdquo; dialog box, the Add Printer Wizard to automatically detect and install new The plug-and-play printer will prompt the user to detect the result when the search is finished. If the user wants to install it manually, click the “Next” button to continue, as shown in Figure 9.10.

(4) In this case the wizard open & ldquo; select the printer port & rdquo; dialog box asking the user to select the port the printer is installed for use, in & ldquo; following ports & rdquo; drop-down list box offers several Port, the recommended printer port is LPT1. Most computers also use the LPT1 port to communicate with the local computer. If the port used by the user is not in the list, you can select “Create new port” to create a new communication port. As shown in Figure 9.11.

(5) When the user selected port, click & ldquo; Next & rdquo; button to open the & ldquo; install the printer software & rdquo; dialog box, on the left side of the & ldquo; manufacturers & rdquo; list shows Well-known manufacturers of printers from all over the world, when selecting a manufacturer, the corresponding product model of the manufacturer will be displayed in the “Printers” list on the right, as shown in Figure 9.12.

If the user of the installed printer manufacturer and model number does not appear in the list, you can use the installation CD that came with the printer to install, click & ldquo; Disk & rdquo; button to open the Figure 9.13 In the dialog box shown, the user should insert the manufacturer's installation disk, and then enter the correct path of the driver file in the "Manufacturer file copy source" text box, or click the "Browse" button to select in the window that opens. Click on the desired file and click the "OK" button to return to the "Install Printer" dialog box.

(6) When the user determines the location of the driver files, click & ldquo; Next & rdquo; open & ldquo; Name your printer & rdquo; dialog box, the user can & ldquo; printer name & rdquo; text The box has a name for the printer installed by itself, and reminds the user that some programs do not support server and printer name combinations of more than 31 English characters or 15 Chinese characters. It is best to take a shorter printer name, as shown in Figure 9.14. . Here, the user can set this printer as the default printer. When the user is set to the default printer, if the user is on the network and there are multiple shared printers on the network, if the printer is not specified, the printer will be This default printer is output.
