Word XP open WPS document into garbled solution

Computer shop news recently a colleague brought a WPS paper, please help me modify it and then print it out, the word processing software installed in my computer is Word XP. I remember that Office XP comes with a WPS document converter, and I have never had a chance to use it. But when I open it, the content is all garbled. In desperation, I still installed WPS Office to help my colleagues solve their urgent needs. But don't give up! Later, after research, I finally solved this problem.

Office 2000 also has a WPS document converter, but if you are using the default installation method, Office 2000 does not automatically install the WPS converter. Word XP automatically installs the WPS converter during installation, which can cause errors when opening WPS documents.

So, find an Office 2000 installation disk, find an executable file named Wps2word.exe under the PFiles\\Common\\MSShared\\TextConv folder on the CD (Office XP installation disk can not find this File), after double-clicking, the program will automatically determine if you have installed the converter. If it is not installed, the program will automatically install the converter to the computer. If the prompt is installed (especially for Office XP users), it is recommended to uninstall it first and then choose to reinstall the converter.

After rebooting the system, open Word 2000 or Word XP. In the file type box of the Open File dialog box, there are two options: “WPS DOS Import” and “WPS files”. Two options make it easy to import WPS documents and WPS 2000/WPS Office documents under DOS version in Word.

It should be noted that the converter can convert most of the formats and embedded objects in the WPS document, but it may cause some layout changes, just rearrange the documents.
