Tips for using XP's own firewall

Today, firewalls, like anti-virus software, are an essential tool for us to go online. However, all kinds of advertisements on the Internet are always confusing. Fortunately, in order to better manage network security, windows xp system specifically provides firewall functions for everyone. As long as you use this function skillfully, you can allow or deny network information according to actual needs, thus preventing attacks and protecting network security. The purpose, what are you waiting for? Hurry and experience.

Lock the firewall, beware of damage

In a workplace where multiple people share a computer, each user can open at will. When the firewall property setting window is used to adjust the security parameters of the firewall, the security of the local computer will be greatly severe. If it is serious, the local computer will not be able to access the Internet. In order to guard against the random destruction of the local system firewall parameters, we can follow the steps below to lock the firewall property settings window to prevent others from adjusting the firewall parameters:

First click on the workstation system desktop in turn. Start the ”/“Run” menu option and execute the string command “gpedit.msc” in the text box that pops up to enter the group policy editing interface of the local workstation system;

In the left pane of the editing interface, use the mouse to expand the "Computer Configuration" project branch, and then under the branch "Administrative Templates", "<quo; Network", "Network Connections" ;, “Windows Firewall”,“Standard Profile”options are selected in turn, and in the right pane of the <quo;Standard Profile” option, double-click on it; Windows Firewall: Protect All Network connection & rdquo; policy, enter the target policy attribute setting interface;

In this interface See “Windows Firewall: Protect all network connections”. The policy is currently in the “Allowed” setting state. If the policy is found to have been activated, then we must select the “Disabled” option and click again. Click the "OK" button, so that ordinary users can not adjust the security parameters in the firewall property settings interface.

Recovering the firewall and troubleshooting

In order to make the firewall work in a targeted manner, we often need to set the parameters appropriately, but sometimes we try to open the firewall parameter setting interface and find the firewall. Features are not enabled. When this happens, most of the system files related to the firewall in the workstation system are damaged. In order to make the firewall work again, we must restore it according to the following steps:

First on the Windows system desktop In the system, execute the "Start" and "Run" commands. From the pop-up system run box, enter the string command "cmd", click the "OK" button, and switch the system running status to MS. -DOS command line status;

Secondly, in the command line of the MS-DOS working window, execute “Rundll32 setupapi, InstallHinfSection Ndi-Steelhead 132 %windir%\\inf\ etrass.inf”string command, wait After the command is successfully run, restart the computer system;

Then enter the MS-DOS working window again, and then enter the string command in the DOS command line, <;netsh firewall reset”, single After hitting the car key, the damaged Windows firewall can be restored to the previous default state; after that, we can reopen the firewall's property settings. Interface to the parameters of which were set up in a targeted manner.

Tip: In the MS-DOS working window, we can skillfully manage some firewalls by using some of the network commands that come with the Windows system. For example, if you want to centrally view the various setting parameters of the firewall, we only need to execute the string command “ ldquo; netsh firewall show config” in the DOS command line. In this case, the Windows system will automatically list the firewall configuration information. In this way, we can see the configuration information of the firewall at a glance; if we want to temporarily disable the firewall function of the workstation system, simply execute the string command in the DOS command. “netsh firewall set opmode mode =disable” It's fine, without having to open the firewall parameter settings interface first, which will increase productivity.

Strengthen the firewall and protect the security

Generally speaking, it is not difficult to start the workstation system with its own firewall function. Just open the “Local Area Connection” property setting window first, and then in it. Click the “Set> button in the “Advanced” tab settings page to enter the firewall parameter settings interface, and then select the “Enable” option. But in fact, we sometimes find that the “Settings> button in the "Advanced" label settings page is grayed out and we can't enable the firewall. In the face of this special situation, how can we restart the firewall function that comes with the system? In fact, the “Settings” button in the “Advanced” label setting page is grayed out and cannot be clicked. It is possible that the firewall-related services in the system have been temporarily disabled by us. At this point, we can follow the following operations to strengthen the system firewall:

First, in the Windows system desktop, execute the "Start" and "Run" commands from the pop-up system run box. Enter the string command “compmgmt.msc”, click the “OK” button to open the computer management window of the workstation system, and then expand the “Services and Applications” in the list area on the left side of the window. Service & rdquo; project, in the right pane of the "Services" project, find the "Windows Firewall /Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)" service option, and then right-click this option, from In the shortcut menu that pops up, execute the “Properties” command to open the service property setting window;

Then go to the “General” tab of the window, where we can see “Windows Firewall/” Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)” service is running at the moment; once the service is found to be abnormally enabled, then we can click & “Start” button to restart the service, then click the “OK” button to exit the service property setting interface;

After completing the above setting operation, when we open again, “locally connected” ” When you set the advanced tab page, you can see that the “Settings” button has returned to its normal state. At this point, just click the “Settings” button and we will be able to come in the firewall property interface. Enable this feature.

In order to achieve higher security level protection, we sometimes need to install other professionales on the network or workstation. Firewall. But before you officially install a professional firewall, we must first turn off the firewall that comes with the system to avoid conflicts between multiple firewall systems.
