Windows XP still has the most popular global market share of 47.19%

According to data released by the survey agency NetApplications, Microsoft Windows XP is the world's most popular operating system, with a market share of 47.19% in January 2012.

The data shows that Microsoft's Windows 7 operating system has a market share of 36.4% over the same period, down 0.06% from December 2011. In addition, Microsoft's operating system is still the dominant player in the global industry, accounting for 92% of the market, while Apple's MACOSX is 6.39%. The analysis said that the stability of the Microsoft operating system will face two major factors: first, the continued sales of home computers; second, the willingness of Microsoft consumers to update the operating system.

However, data shows that Microsoft consumers have a strong willingness to update software. The usage of Windows 7 has been significantly improved, from 23% a year ago to the current 36.4%. And Microsoft itself is also working hard to promote consumer updates on the operating system. According to the plan, Microsoft will cancel technical support for WindowsXP in April 2014.

Despite the strong consumer willingness to update software, sales of home computers are currently declining, which will further limit the market share of Windows XP. With the advent of smartphones and tablets, consumers' willingness to buy PCs is declining, and Apple and Google's Android operating system have dominated the field of smartphones and tablets, which is an indisputable fact.
