Win XP folder permissions settings

User lzking problem:

In NTFS format, there is a "Security" option when selecting folder properties. I deleted all the users below, leaving only my own account. I found that I can only open the folder, and everything inside can't be opened. Finished, all my information can not be opened! How to do?

Problem Solving:

For XP, user permissions can only be set under a folder or disk (the entire partition) in NTFS format. If you want to set permissions for a folder, select the target folder --Properties--Security. At this time, you can see which users have permission to the target folder. In general, you can't simply delete a user with the "REMOVE" button, because there is an inherited relationship. You can first click "Advanced" in
"Permissions" to remove the inheritance relationship, after Apply returns to the previous level, add users and set permissions. However, this only applies if the target folder is created by the current user. I have tested this.

But some folders were created a long time ago (earlier than the current operating system) or by other users (a machine may be used by more than one person), if you use the same method as mentioned above The problem I encountered was that I could open the target folder, but everything in the folder could not be read. For this folder, when we open the "Destination Folder--Properties--Security", we will see some users with very strange names have permission to operate on the current folder. At this time, you can look at "Advanced--Owner". ", you will see that the current owner is a very weird user. If you want to change the user rights of the folder, you should first select the user under "CHANGE OWNER TO". Then follow the first situation and set it up.

My folder was built a long time ago, so I also encountered difficulties. The above operation is verified by my own operation practice, but there is no theoretical basis, I can't guarantee that it is completely applicable to other situations.

PS: My operating system is the English version of XP, so the above description of the corresponding function of the current system, the Chinese version of the XD can be used to correspond.
