Solving Windows XP Shared File Loss Issues

  

A problem often encountered with WinXP: shared resources or printers are not found on other computers. The reason

for this phenomenon:

first possibility, Windows LAN communication during the time required to support NetBIOS over IP (NetBIOS) protocol, if this protocol can not be enabled, Naturally, LAN connection is not possible.

second possibility, when WinXP perform LAN communication also need to rely on the support of the Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) is, data is typically stored in a computer ARP cache, if the ARP expires naturally be wrong.

Solution:

1. Enable NetBIOS: Control Panel - Network Connection - Local Connection Properties - "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" attribute - WINS

2. Enter the following command at the command prompt:
arp -d
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
