Steps to configure Ganglia in CentOS 5.5

Ganglia is an open source monitoring software that can have a monitoring server. Many people install Ganglia under CentOS and don't know how to configure it. The following small series will give you a detailed introduction to Ganglia's configuration. Let's take a look at it. .

at CentOS 5.5, Ganglia There are many ways of mounting, for example yum, rpm or source installation package. Here I will discuss the source installation of Ganglia. Needless to say, go to Ganglia's official website to download the source code, extract the README and INSTALL documents after decompression, and follow the prompts to install step by step. What is missing yum, this is the biggest convenience of CentOS, yum less than the source installation, the specific process is relatively simple.

Configuration steps:

After the installation is complete, you must configure it. The specific configuration files are mainly gmond.conf and gmetad.conf in the /etc/ganglia/directory.

gmond.conf

cluster {

name = “unspecified” ------" changed to: <;my cluster”

Owner = “unspecified”

latlong = “unspecified”

url = “unspecified”

}

gmetad.conf

Because the default RRD data storage path in gmetad.conf: /var/lib/ganglia/rrds, this should be established by yourself, and the owner is modified to be nobody (formerly root), otherwise the following error will occur:

err1:

# service gmetad status

gmetad is dead, but subsys is locked

err2:

There was an error collecting ganglia Data (127.0.0.1:8652): fsockopen error: Connection refused

Solution code:

# mkdir -p /var/lib/ganglia/rrds

# chown nobody :nobody /var/lib/ganglia/rrds

Also note the conf.php file in the directory /var/www/html/ganglia/

correctly specified The path to install rrdtool, the default is as follows

define(“RRDTOOL”, “/usr/bin/rrdtool”);

The above is the method of CentOS configuration Ganglia, because Ganglia Installation is relatively simple, you can use the source code to install, so this article has not been introduced in detail, I hope to help you.
